Deployment Opportunity for Junior Officers in Atlanta

To All Atlanta-area CDC/ATSDR Commissioned Officers O-4 and below

CDC will be engaged in a national exercise, TOPOFF-3, during the period April 4-8, 2005. The CDC Director's Emergency Operations Center (DEOC) is seeking Junior Officers at CDC or ATSDR in the Atlanta area to serve as aides to the Incident Commanders during the exercise. The officers' duties would include providing various types of support in the DEOC during the exercise.

Qualifications:

  1. Be a Commissioned officer with temporary rank O-4 or below.
  2. Meets Commissioned Corps basic readiness standards.
  3. Be stationed in the Atlanta area (no travel funds are available for this duty).
  4. Not be on the Commissioned Corps Office of Force Readiness and Deployment (OFRD) roster for the month, so we will not impact OFRD's ability to deploy CDC/ATSDR officers. Roster # 5 is on call for April 2005.
  5. Wear the appropriate uniform while working in the DEOC.
  6. Have supervisory permission to work approximately eight hour shifts on two consecutive days in a week. Two days provides some continuity without having a major impact on the officer's program.
  7. Be willing and able to function as an aide rather than a subject matter expert and do whatever the incident commander needs done.
  8. Have a positive attitude and work well with others in a stressful environment.
  9. Have updated your data in the CDC Resource Tracking System (RTS).
