Pneumococcal Surface Protein Combination Vaccine

Infections with Streptococcus pneumoniae are a major cause of otitis media, menengitis, and fatal pneumonia worldwide. Several pneumococcal proteins are known to elicit protective immunity. This invention incorporates 2 of these proteins into a vaccine which demonstrates protection against pneumococcal carriage. This combination vaccine may provide adequate herd immunity and widespread protection to all serotypes of S. pneumoniae and become standard for protection against. pneumococcal carriage.
