System for Monitoring Exposure to Impulse Noise

Noise is perhaps the most common occupational and environmental hazard yet current occupational noise dosimeters do not accurately measure impulse noise. This new dosimeter provides high impulse capacity that can detect impulse frequencies up to 180 dB, thereby eliminating the shortcomings of current dosimeter microphones that prematurely “clip” impulse noise and risk misrepresentation of their hazards to noise-induced hearing loss. Also included is a recording and storage device enabling the dosimeter to retain the original impulse waveform for post processing and analysis.
