General
Overview:
The
Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) is assisting WHO
and Ministries of Health in upgrading
their methods of storing and analyzing
surveillance data. Data Managers
are being deployed to countries
in the developing world to assist
in utilizing Epi-Info Windows version
to record and analyze data. Primary
responsibilities are to implement
data entry screens, conduct analysis,
and generate reports utilizing
Epi-Info.

Project Requirements:
Volunteers
are sought who are technically
savvy in the use of computer-based
disease surveillance systems. They
will need to:
-
utilize the surveillance system
for creating data entry screens,
handling data management functions,
and performing analyses
-
be knowledgeable about vaccine-preventable
disease surveillance and analysis
issues
- have
experience in more complex data
management and statistical analysis
issues
-
work closely with local staff
and provide training and support
in the implementation of the
software
It
is important that data managers
become thoroughly familiar with
Epi-Info for Windows. [The latest
version of Epi-Info can be downloaded
from http://www.cdc.gov/epiinfo/.]
This assignment will include aspects
of developing data entry screens,
developing data quality controls,
and developing output reports and
ad hoc analyses using Epi-Info
for Windows. It is also preferable
for data managers to be familiar
with Geographical Information Systems
(GIS) programs.

Data Managers need to be self-starters,
very flexible, and work well under
difficult conditions with people
of different cultures.

Summary:
This
project would require experienced
data managers or data analysts
that either currently know Epi-Info
Windows version or can learn Epi-Info
Windows version quickly. Familiarity
with GIS is also helpful. Data
managers/analysts fluent in French
are in high demand.
