National Adult Immunization Awareness Week

September 24 - 30, 2006

2006 NAIAW logo
At a glance: This year marks the 19th consecutive observance of NAIAW and is a great opportunity for individuals and organizations to promote the importance of adult and adolescent immunization.

Note: Next event is September 23-29, 2007. When materials for 2007 become available, they will be posted to this web page.

NAIAW 2006 Campaign Kit from NFID
The 2005 Campaign Kit is designed to:
  • Provide resources to help educate consumers and health care workers about adolescent and adult immunization.
  • Encourage organizations to coordinate NAIAW promotional efforts in their state or local area.

Organizations may duplicate materials and modify information in the NAIAW kit from the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases site to fit unique needs in promoting adult and adolescent immunization.

2006 NAIAW Tools and Presentations from CAIC

To improve awareness of adult immunizations among health care providers and the general community, the California Adult Immunization Coalition (CAIC) is supporting a collaborative, statewide effort to observe

September 24th through September 30th, 2006
Adult Immunizations. It’s Your Best Shot!

CAIC promotes this national observance by developing and adopting materials and resources that you and other stakeholders in immunization can use and distribute.

The 2006 CAIC/NAIAW Planning Committee has screened and collected tools that are appropriate for your use during NAIAW 2006. The committee has also developed a series of customizable tools, including:

  • Two fully scripted and CME ready slide presentations that provide a comprehensive review of adult immunization
  • Customizable media tools, including adaptable Templates for Opinion/Editorial submissions and Press Releases
  • A set of materials local stakeholders can use to promote Healthcare Worker vaccination in nearby facilities.
  • A list of additional resources available on the web

At the state level, the Planning Committee has also developed and distributed a press release to major media outlets – though we encourage you to use the enclosed media tools to contact media outlets near you. Repetition does not hurt and the media is sometimes more inclined to listen to a local source.

To support our work, please cite CAIC as a supporter of your adult immunization efforts

To improve our efforts to promote NAIAW in the future, please take a moment to complete our quick on-line evaluation.

We thank you for observing NAIAW 2006 – another step towards prevention of the deaths and disability that vaccine-preventable diseases annually cause among adults in California.
