Audio/video recordings of presentations from the 40th National Immunization Conference are currently posted on the Internet. Access them via the Online Conference Program.

to everyone who attended the 40th National Immunization Conference! This was one of our best conferences yet. More than 1500 people from around the United States, and beyond, attended the conference, participating in a total of fifteen plenary sessions (including the opening and closing sessions), 72 workshops, two Immunization Q&A sessions, and a variety of fitness and other special events.

Of special note the closing plenary included a special awards ceremony to recognize Former First Lady of the United States Rosalynn Carter and Former First Lady of Arkansas Betty Bumpers 15th anniversary of Every Child by Two.


Conference Goals and Objectives

The goals of the Conference are to provide information that will help participants provide comprehensive immunization coverage for all age groups and explore innovative strategies for developing programs, policy, and research to promote immunization coverage for all age groups. The Conference Education Program Objective is: To bring together a wide variety of local, state, federal, and private-sector immunization partners to explore science, policy, education, and planning issues related to immunization in general and vaccine-preventable disease. During three and a half days of plenary sessions and workshops, many topics will be discussed, including:

Barriers to Vaccination * Community and Partnerships
Childhood Immunization * Cultural Diversity * Global Immunization
Surveillance * Health Communications * Health Education
Policy and Legislation * New Vaccines and Vaccine Development
Vaccine-Preventable Diseases * Vaccine Safety * Immunization Registries


Overview of the Track System

The 40th National Immunization Conference focused on six topic-specific tracks, with multiple workshop and plenary sessions offered for each track. The topics were the following:

  • Adult/Adolescent Immunization
  • Epidemiology/Vaccine Safety
  • Health/Risk Communications
  • Immunization Information Systems
  • Programmatic Issues
  • Policy and Legislation
