WORLD TRADE CENTER HEALTH EFFECTS
March 3rd Public Meeting
On March 3rd, 2011, NIOSH held a public meeting in New York City to receive comments from the public on implementing the provisions of the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010. These comments will assist in this process by gaining perspectives from interested parties on ways to meet the Act's requirements. During the meeting, over 40 individuals spoke either in person or by phone, providing their perspectives on the current program as well as their ideas for how the program should move forward. The issues raised during the meeting included:
- Inclusion of cancer into the covered conditions list
- Prescription drug benefits
- Improved consistency in care
- Focus on children and adolescents who were in the area during the time of the attacks and the following months
- Improved explanation of benefits
