Since 1987, NIOSH has awarded cooperative agreements to various state health departments and other entities to develop models for state-based and condition-specific surveillance and preventive intervention. Two of the occupational respiratory disease conditions for which states have been funded are silicosis and work-related asthma (WRA).

Information on NIOSH funded state-based surveillance programs is available for currently funded states. Go directly to the individual state's program information by selecting from the following list of participating states.
