NIOSH announces the opportunity for public comment on a draft Respiratory Diseases Research Program (RDRP) plan for implementing recommendations from a recent evaluation of the program by the National Academies.

The plan briefly reviews the NIOSH RDRP and its strategic goals; and the National Academies' program evaluation and recommendations. It presents current priorities and planned activities within its strategic goal areas of occupationally-related airways diseases; interstitial lung diseases; respiratory malignancies; infectious diseases of the respiratory tract; and work to address the potential occupational hazards related to nanotechnology.

The public comment period for the RDRP implementation plan will be through August 14, 2009. We request that stakeholders review this plan to ensure that the appropriate issues have been identified and prioritized, and that the proposed activities appropriately address these issues.
