Transportation, Warehousing and Utilities

Input: Sector Description

The Transportation, Warehousing and Utilities (TWU) sector is made up of two parts: the Transportation and Warehousing, and the Utilities Sector. The Transportation sub-sectors include industries providing transportation of passengers and cargo; scenic and sightseeing transportation; and support activities related to modes of transportation. The Warehousing sub-sectors include industries providing warehousing and storage of goods. The Utilities sub-sectors comprises establishments engaged in providing, servicing, and distributing; electric power; natural gas; steam supply; water supply; and sewage removal. The TWU sector represents 5.2% of the U.S. workforce across the eight NIOSH sectors. The following table represents the employment and establishment distribution in the TWU sector.
