PREVENTION THROUGH DESIGN

NIOSH Prevention through Design Strategic Goals

Goal 2.0: Designers, engineers, machinery and equipment manufacturers, health and safety (H&S) professionals, business leaders, and workers understand PtD methods and apply this knowledge and skills to the design and re-design of new and existing facilities, processes, equipment, tools, and organization of work.

Intermediate Goal 2.5: Include PtD concepts in certification exams.

Activity/Output Number Description Status
2.5.1 Work with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH), and Institute of Professional Environmental Practice (IPEP) to include PtD principles in certification exams.

2.5.2 Gain agreement from the BSCP and ABIH for delegates to receive certification maintenance points for attending educational programs on PtD.
