Fire Service SCBA Cylinder Part Numbers

Error processing SSI file

Ensure that the Cylinder/Valve Assembly is Approved by NIOSH for use with your SCBA

Check the Labels

As detailed in a May 4, 2007 NIOSH user notice [PDF- 40 KB] , the use of unauthorized substitute components such as cylinders puts respirators in a non-approved configuration.

In response to demand from the fire service, NIOSH has created this page to be a quick reference showing those cylinders which are authorized components of NIOSH-approved self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Based on information provided by the manufacturer, listed below are SCBA models commonly used in the fire service and the corresponding approved cylinder and valve assemblies.

While this list contains the configurations thought to be most common, it may not be comprehensive. The definitive source for information on the components which make up an approved SCBA remains the approval label included in its user instructions. You should refer to this label if there is any question.
