Ladder "Add-Ons" to Improve Worker Safety: Safe Last Step and Modified Third Leg

RE orchard ladders my comments are more questions than comments. If the alarm of the audio alert on the last step requires prior training and instruction there doesn't seem to be any added value. Is the audio alert a buzzer going off or a verbal message of some sort. Are signs/labels on the ladder used to warn of climber hazardous behavior as is done on ladders used in general industry? Are these ladders job made or manufactured and purchased by orchard owners?

In response to questions about the ladder add-ons.

    Thanks for your questions.

The worker would need to receive training as to the meaning of the buzzer (or chime - yet to be decided). The waring signal will be some type of auditory alert such as a chime or buzzer. We have not anticipated labeling the ladder in any particular way but as we come closer to getting this prototype tested, we will certainly have to consider this. The ladders which are used in orchard work in the Northwest (for which this was designed) are mostly three legged aluminum ladders made by a variety of manufacturers.

Feel free to ask more questions.
