2008 National Occupational Injury Research Symposium |

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety (LMRIS) are co-sponsoring a contest to recognize outstanding student papers related to occupational injuries. The paper may be on any aspect of work-related injury from descriptive epidemiology (surveillance), worker training, protective equipment, analytical epidemiology, intervention or policy evaluation, occupational medicine, return to work or any other topic related to occupational injuries. Student contestants with winning submissions will have an opportunity to present their work in a special session of the National Occupational Injury Research Symposium on October 21 - 23, 2008, in Pittsburgh. Submission deadline: Closed EligibilityA student in a degree granting, graduate-level (e.g., masters or doctorate) program of study in a field related to safety, injury or occupational health. AwardsAwards will be made on the basis of the quality and completeness of the submissions, as specified in the award criteria listed below. Finalists will be notified by June 1, 2008. Awardees will receive financial assistance for travel to NOIRS, and the conference registration fee will be waived. NOIRS SessionNIOSH and LMRIS will host a session at NOIRS in which contest finalists will present their winning submissions. The session will provide an open forum in which contest participants and conference participants will discuss the student papers.
