On January 26 and 27, 1983, the third engineering control technology workshop was held at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. the program was attended by forty-four representatives of industry, academia and government, concerned with occupational safety and health engineering control technology. Following a welcome to the workshop by Dr. Robert L. Harris, the objectives for the next two days were established. The remaining morning session was utilized discussing topics of general interest which included professional responsibility from a legal standpoint, accreditation of engineering programs and registration of engineers. The afternoon session was devoted to the presentation of the draft report by each of the four chapter authors. In subsequent discussion sessions, attendees made numerous suggestions regarding specific wording and other substantive changes they felt necessary.
