Abstract
A method is described for the electrodeposition of pbo2 for anodes to be used in the electrowinning of metals. Thus, to make an anode, 99.9 pct ti sheet 0.15 X 3 x 6 in was used as the substrate and on it pbo2 was deposited from a bath containing hno3 100, pb(no3)2 320, cu(no3)2 0.3, and 325-mesh ceramic beads 5 g/l at 40 a/ft2. At the end of 8 h, a firmly adherent 0.05-In-thick layer of pbo2 was formed and this after 30 days in 200 g/l h2so4 at 40 deg c and 120 a/ft2 showed no signs of deterioration. Anodes of this kind were used successfully in the electrowinning of both cu and zn.
