Abstract
The use of rhodium, ruthenium, and technetium is proposed for balanced filters for silver ka x-rays. Rhodium and ruthenium are used to isolate the ka1, ruthenium and technetium for the ka2, and rhodium and technetium for the ka2, and rhodium and technetium are used for the ka doublet. General criteria are given for optimizing the intensity in terms of the transmission of one of the filters at the line of interest. The transmission of filter a (lowest atomic number) for any of the filter pairs should be about 12 percent for silver ka x-rays.
