Abstract
This report deals with present research that was started in 1976, in the high-enthalpy, high-salinity brines of the Salton Sea Geothermal Field (SSGF). The super-saturated ssgf brines range in temperature from 220 deg to 300 deg c, in pressure from 250 to 500 psig, and in total dissolved solids from 24 to 32 percent. These brines are among the most corrosive natural fluids ever encountered and the associated scaling phenomena is not explained by rigorous applications of thermodynamic or kinetic theories.
