Abstract
This study has demonstrated that considerable useful information can be derived for a quaternary system such as caf2-cao-mgo-al2o3 which has no appreciable solid solution. Thermal analysis results for compositions lying in the 10 wt-pct, 20 wt-pct, and 40 wt-pct al2o3 joins in the quaternary system mentioned indicate that the lowest liquidus temperatures occur in the 20 wt-pct al2o3 join. Liquidus phase relations become more complex as the al2o3 content increases. This is reflected in the increased number of piercing points observed.
