Two approaches to increasing the mechanization of narrow vein stopping were studied with the intention of increasing productivity and decreasing stopping costs. A method of bringing efficient rubber-tired equipment into narrow cut and fill stopes was designed. It proposes to provide stope access by way of a ramp constructed on the stope hill. Impact breaking equipment was studied and specific applications proposed.
