Abstract
Alcl3.6H2o is decomposed in a h2 atmosphere at 800 deg-950 deg c to form al2o3 containing <0.01 pct cl. Thus, in a series of tests, alcl3.6H2o was decomposed initially at 300 deg c in n2 to give a product containing 8.3 pct cl, which was decomposed at 900 deg c in n2, o2, and h2 to give al2o3 containing 0.021, 0.024, and 0.008 pct cl, respectively.
