Abstract
This report describes a Bureau of Mines designed treatment system, currently in full-scale operation, that has proved to have economic and environmental advantages over conventional treatment. The in- line aeration and treatment system functions in existing acid mine drainage pipelines using the energy of existing mine water discharge pumps. The system offers reduced maintenance, operating, and capital costs as well as improved iron oxidation reaction time.
