Thermodynamic data on the elements and oxides were reviewed, evaluated, and compiled at the Bureau of Mines Albany Research Center. Values for cpdeg., S deg, h deg -- h deg 298, --(g deg -- h deg 289/ t, ^hf deg, ^gf deg, and log k are given in tabular form. Cpdeg, h deg -- h deg 298, ^hf deg, and ^gf deg are also expressed algebraically. Examples of calculations using these data are given. A short statement of some fundamental ideas of thermodynamics and several examples of their use are included. The examples illustrate several alternate methods of calculation using both the tabulated values and the equations. Comparisons are also made on the bases of ease of calculation and accuracy of results.
