This report describes the methods of reclaiming abandoned or inactive tailings ponds and dams. The investigated sites were selected tailings deposits adjacent to metal mines in the southwestern United States and the Pacific northwest. The basic data developed for each site consisted of a review of existing literature, a site visit that included sampling of the tailings and surrounding materials, laboratory and engineering studies, and development of reclamation plans. Volume II contains the appendixes.
