Abstract
As result of continuing national concern about the problem of respirable dust in underground mining operations, the National Materials Advisory Board formed a committee to prepare a study addressing the problem in a broad and fundamental manner. The objective of the study is to consolidate the information currently available on the subject, assess the active research program of the Bureau of Mines on the measurement and control of respirable dust in mines, and provide perspective settings for investigations needed in the future. This report describes the results of the study.
