Unusual Concepts for Coal Mine Haulage.

Some of the unusual concepts for coal mine haulage now under investigation are described. The article discusses the advantages, disadvantages, and study plans of the following: hydraulic and pneumatic transport; a siderail and sidewheel system; a heavy media hoist; a peristaltic conveyor and an undulatory conveyor; an air- cushioned belt conveyor propelled by linear induction motors; an adaptation of the archimedes' screw; and possible application of the rolamite device for conveying.
