Abstract
This report presents the results of a study to develop a detailed mining method design based on longwall mining with sublevel caving. The method is applicable to low-dipping coal seams 20 feet or more thick such as are found in the western United States. The report covers the development and description of the mining method, the evaluation of the engineering feasibility of the design, estimates of productivity and recovery, and an engineering cost analysis and economic feasibility evaluation of the mining method design. Volume II contains the calculations.
