Abstract
The notification of workers about job related hazards was considered in this NIOSH sponsored workshop. Broad topics covered at the workshop included factors that influence notification; content of notification; channels and vehicles of communication; supporting activities beyond notification; notification in the community context; and evaluation methodology, effectiveness and impact. Whether the medical community is ready to deal with worker notification, the viewpoint of the employer, cultural and linguistic factors, ethical questions, case studies, pesticide exposures, asbestos (1332214) exposure, social aspects, heavy metal exposures, material safety data sheets, screening programs, the superfund and one community program, lead (7439921) exposure, chemical workers, and quality of life were among the ideas considered at the workshop.
