Abstract
The proceedings of the Society for Occupational and Environmental Health's conference on women and the workplace held on June 17-19, 1976 are presented. The session concerned with the effects of toxic substances on future generations includes the results of both laboratory and epidemiological investigations. The session on birth defects and cancer discusses such subjects on the relationship between natal deformities and exposure to vinyl-chloride and the rationales for placement of workers in high risk areas. The session on health risks associated with sex related job placement patterns, focuses on dentistry, textile, and airline industries. One session focuses on the particular susceptibility of women to the toxic effects of lead. The final session discusses the current and future legal an social perspectives of women in the workplace.
