Abstract
Exposures to noise and silica (7631869) were measured at a third floor screening station at the Nu Tex Brick Factory (SIC-3255) in El Paso, Texas, on May 20, 1965. Overall sound pressure level was 105 decibels (dB). Levels at various octave bands ranged from 87dB to 105dB. Midget impinger samples at the station, settled dust samples, and one high volume air sample averaged 30 percent free silica. Impinger samples contained fewer than 7 million particles per cubic foot, the allowable dust concentration. The authors conclude there is no serious dust problem at this station.
