Preliminary evaluation of the NIOSH analytical method S270 for sulfur-monochloride (10025679) is discussed. No testing was performed, since analysis would require the use of a dye, coated solid sorbent, and derivatization procedure that are not yet available. A previously reported method involving a reaction between sulfur-monochloride and antimony-pentachloride (7647189) also was evaluated but was unsatisfactory because water must be excluded. Future research efforts are suggested.
