Abstract
The molecular structure, chemical abstracts service number, registry of toxic effects of chemical substances number, production figures and economic trends, uses, and producer and user data are given for sodium-azide (26628228), lead-azide (13424469), and hydrazoic-acid (7782798). The biological effects of exposure are described, including target organs, acute, subchronic and chronic effects, and human effects. The azides stimulate the central nervous system and are hypotensive agents; sodium-azide has been used in experimental therapy. A threshold limit value of 100 parts per billion has been proposed for sodium-azide in air. (Contract No 210-77-0120)
