Abstract
Review of the evaluation and control of ionizing radiation in the industrial environment. Ionizing radiation is defined and a description is given of the radiations of primary concern in the industrial environment. A glossary of terms is given. Other topics covered include: physical aspects of ionizing radiation, electromagnetic radiation, particulate radiation, medical irradiation, occupational irradiation, somatic and genetic effects of irradiation, acute and chronic exposures, radiation sources, critical organs and tissues, radiation protection considerations, irradiation by external radiation sources, irradiation by internal radiation sources, nuclear criticality safety, nuclear reactor industry, transportation, records, and regulations.
