Industry, process, and use data for in house criteria document part 5 dibromodifluoromethane.
NIOSH 1976 Sep; :1-52
A survey is made of currently available literature pertinent to dibromodifluoromethane (39284894). Data are documented relative to industrial production, uses (standard industrial classification), processes, operations, and equipment; and to engineering controls and personal protection. The only domestic producer of dibromodifluoromethane is Dupont, but the amount reduced is minimal as it is obtained as a by-product of organic chemical manufacture. The largest domestic supplier is the chemical industries who manufacture the chemical in the United Kingdom. Bromotrifluoromethane (75638) (Halon-1301) is generally preferred over dibromodifluoromethane as a fire extinguishant due to the lower toxicity of the former, only minimal published data are available that describe engineering controls and measures to protect workers from dibromodifluoromethane exposure.
