Abstract
A safety protocol implemented at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory for a project involving 14 chemical carcinogens is described. The carcinogens involved are: 4,4-methylene-bis(2- chloroaniline) (101144); benzidine (92875); 3,3'-dichlorobenzidine (91941); beta-naphthylamine (91598); alpha-naphthylamine (134327); bis(chloromethyl)-ether ( 542881); chloromethyl-methyl-ether (107302); beta-propiolactone (57578); ethylenimine (151564); N- nitrosodimethylamine (62759); 4-aminobiphenyl (92671); 4- nitrobiphenyl (92933); 2-acetylaminofluorene (53963); and 4- dimethylaminoazobenzene (60117). Specific topics pertaining to facilities, personnel practice, laboratory operations, decontamination and disposal are discussed within the context of regulations issued by OSHA.
