An environmental survey was conducted by NIOSH in the operating rooms of a hospital (SIC-8062) in order to determine concentrations of waste anesthetic gases and vapors to which medical and technical personnel were being exposed. It was demonstrated that environmental concentrations of waste anesthetic gases and vapor exceeded those levels which have been reported to be achievable during the routine use of inhalation anesthetics such as halothane (151677), nitrous-oxide (10024972) and cyclopropane (75194).
