Evidence of minor acute irritative effects is found in some workers exposed to toluene-diisocyanate (584849) (TDI) and polymethylsiloxanes in a clay manufacturing unit (SIC-3255) in Kansas. No significant effects of acute respiratory impairment are noted. With the exception of carbon-monoxide (630080), all environmental sampling results for TDI, polymethylsiloxanes, mercury (7439976), methyl-ethyl-ketone (78933), xylene (1330207), and toluene (108883) are observed to be below the appropriate health standards for these substances. Results for TDI are indicative of a need for monitoring and evaluation during different conditions of use and environmental conditions.
