Abstract
Limits of detection found attainable in the qualitative analysis of specific organic compounds are presented as established using an activated charcoal capillary to trap a gas chromatographic fraction prior to introduction into a Bendix Time of Flight mass spectrometer via the hot filament probe for analysis. Limits of detection are presented for: isoamyl-acetate (628637), benzene (71432), 2-butanone (78933), n-butyl-acetate (123864), isobutyraldehyde (78842), n- butyraldehyde (123728), carbon-tetrachloride (56235), chloroform (67663), crotonaldehyde (123739), 1,2-dichloroethane, p-dioxane (123911), ethanol (64175), ethyl acetate (141786), ethylbenzene (100414), ethyl-ether (60297), heptaldehyde (111717), heptane (142825), hexane (110543), methylene-chloride (75092), perchloroethylene (127184), propionaldehyde, isopropyl-alcohol (67630), toluene (108883), trichloroethylene (79016), isovaleraldehyde (590863), and n-valeraldehyde (110623).
