Abstract
Preliminary results are given for a study of the fibrous glass industry, with discussion of present fibrous glass technology, brief review of medical findings, review of available sampling methods, presentation of preliminary results of the NIOSH environmental studies, and discussion of the results as related to the findings of the medical studies. Significant amounts of disabling pneumoconiosis have not been demonstrated in glass wool insulation plants studied where fiber concentrations are well below 1.0 fiber per milliliter.
