  • Coordinates and provides leadership to branch activities in certification, post certification, and development activities.
  • Provides for manufacturer meeting and support activities
  • Provides support for international coordination activates for testing and evaluation
  • Provides technical support and evaluation to manufacturers and users

Project Scope


  • Support activities for all Branch projects
  • Travel in support of international activities and national consensus standards
  • Improvement of test equipment and methods
  • Liaison with partners

Milestones

  • Successful support of SCSR respirator advancement
  • Support of NFPA projects to maintain NPPTL image and credibility, specifically Wildland Fire Respirators and Buddy Breathing
  • Support of Int programs on respiratory and dermal protection to maintain NIOSH recognized expertise in the respirator and dermal protection area. Invitations to assist in writing chapters for the Int Society for Percutaneous Penetration and the Dermatotoxicology, 8th edition
  • 3 Conference Posters presented
  • Evaluation of several new respirator technologies including high pressure (5500 psi) breathing gas cylinders with a 75 minute duration for SCBAs

Outputs

  • 2 peer reviewed program outputs, (journal publications)
  • OSHA respiratory protection video guides
  • NFPA standards,1981 SCBA Update, Buddy Breathing update, Facepiece heat performance update
  • Presentation to Chilean government (ISP) and NGO (Mutual Seguridad) on NIOSH activities on reduction of silicosis

Outcomes

  • Improved respiratory protection in the workplace
  • Approval of 2 new SCSRs
