Project Scope


  • Develop a subpart for 42 CFR 84 regarding air ensemble respiratory protection requirements

Milestones

  • Support the design/construction/validation of chambers and test equipment for PSD IL Test Facility in Morgantown, identify requirements specific to AFE
  • Surveillance and support of ISO standard development for RPD and protective clothing
  • Q4 Draft RFI
  • Nurture partnership between NASA/NIOSH - potential commercial use liquid air ensembles

Outputs

  • Develop a separate subpart for 42 CFR 84 that will allow for the certification of air-fed ensembles providing respiratory protection features

Outcomes

  • Improve worker safety and health through use of air fed ensembles that meet national recognized standards. Performance criteria and specifications for air-fed protective ensembles do not currently exist
