Project Scope


  • Conduct public health practice studies to assess HCW respirator use and knowledge issues and develop interventions to address areas of concern identified in the assessments.

Milestones

  • 1Q - Public Health Practice Study approved by NIOSH HSRB and CDPH IRB, Finalize data collection instruments
  • 2Q - Collect data at 16 facilities in California, visit site to observe data collection
  • 3Q- Analyze data , Issue RFP for 3 additional locations, Issue RFP for Interventions
  • 4Q - Design and implement interventions to assist facilities with respiratory protection programs (RPPs), Finalize protocol for additional studies.

Outputs

  • Data collection instruments for HCWs, HCW unit managers, Facility Managers, Observational Checklist

Outcomes

  • CDPH report describing study methods, findings, and recommended interventions to address findings
  • Updated Best Practices Guidelines for respirator use and healthcare policies
  • Improved RPPs
