Objective

  • Provide research results and technical expertise for updating ANSI respiratory protective equipment standards according to a timeline mandated by ANSI to provide enhanced respiratory protection to workers.

Project Scope


  • PPT personnel participate on ANSI respiratory protective equipment standards development committees including; selection and use, fit testing, physical requirements, biological agents, and terrorist and disaster response. PPT personnel have a lead role in revision to ANSI standards that are recognized and used nationally and internationally. All PPT branches provide the expertise and scientific data supporting revision to the ANSI standards.

  • 1Q - Input provided on Z88 membership, bylaws, and establishing APF TC
  • 2Q -Application for APF TC Membership - Input on Z88.14 operating procedures
  • 4Q - Address comments on Z88.10 Fit test methods

  • ANSI respiratory protective equipment performance standards

  • Reduction of exposures to inhalation hazards
