Research Goal 4.6 - Prevent hearing loss from exposure to ototoxic chemicals alone or in combination with noise

The HLR program will developmore specific guidelines to provide workers, hearing conservationists, and others with tools to manage worker exposure to chemicals to prevent hearing loss. We are currently evaluating an audiological assessment protocol that tests a worker’s hearing ability and is sensitive enough to detect the effect of chemicals and to distinguish the effects of noise from the effects of chemicals. We will disseminate guidance for addressing the hearing loss prevention needs of the chemical-exposed worker.
