You are the continuous miner operator. You hear your helper cry out. When you stop the machine, you find Harry lying on the floor near the miner tail boom. A shuttle car operator says he saw Harry get pinned to the mine roof by the tail boom. You and the other miners on the section must figure out how to care for Harry and take him out of the mine or he may die.
This exercise is similar to the "Haul Truck Repair Accident" exercise. The companion role play exercise "Continuous Miner Accident (role play)" provides hands-on practice of the first aid skills required in this exercise.
