NIOSH Mining Safety and Health Research
Mining requires moving large quantities of material under adverse conditions that result in a significant number of injuries. The Materials Handling Program conducts research to reduce injuries from material handling. Our primary areas of focus include identifying the root causes of accidents during movement of materials, redesigning and developing equipment, and modifying work practices. |
