TYPES OF HAZARD/ EXPOSURE ACUTE HAZARDS/ SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible.
NO open flames.
Powder, water spray, foam, carbon dioxide .
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE
STRICT HYGIENE!

 •INHALATION
Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest.
 •SKIN
Protective gloves.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
 •EYES
Safety spectacles.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
•INGESTION Symptoms will likely be caused by bleeding and will depend on the affected organ.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Give a slurry of activated charcoal in water to drink. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. Personal protection: P3 filter respirator for toxic particles.
Separated from food and feedstuffs.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.
Marine pollutant.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV: 0.1 mg/m³ as TWA; (ACGIH 2004).
OSHA PEL: TWA 0.1 mg/m3
NIOSH REL: TWA 0.1 mg/m3
NIOSH IDLH: 100 mg/m3 See: 83261

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly especially if powdered.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance may cause effects on the blood , resulting in haemorrhage. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
PHYSICAL
PROPERTIES
Decomposes below boiling point
Melting point: 108-110°C
Density: 1.06
g/cm³
Solubility in water, g/100 ml at 25°C: none
Vapour pressure, Pa at 25°C: negligible
ENVIRONMENTAL
DATA
Environmental Hazard placard The substance is very toxic to aquatic organisms. This substance may be hazardous in the environment; special attention should be given to birds and mammals. This substance does enter the environment under normal use. Great care, however, should be given to avoid any additional release, e.g. through inappropriate disposal.
N O T E S
Temperature of decomposition unknown in literature. Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is suggested. The symptoms of bleeding do not become manifest until a few hours or even a few days have passed. Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available.
