The 5-year average rate of fatal occupational injuries for the period 2003 to 2007 varied from a low of 0.6 per 100,000 employed workers in the Finance and Insurance industry sector, to a high of 30.4 per 100,000 employed workers in the Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing and Hunting industry sector. The 5-year U.S. average rate was 4.0 for all public and private employers. Industry sectors exceeding by 2-fold the U.S average rate include Construction (11.2), Transportation and Warehousing (17.4), and Mining (26.8).
