NORA Councils
Every workplace has unique issues, challenges, and opportunities. As a result, NORA uses a sector-based approach to define and meet high priority needs. The sectors include:
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing
- Construction
- Healthcare and Social Assistance
- Manufacturing
- Mining
- Oil and Gas Extraction
- Public Safety
- Services
- Transportation, Warehousing and Utilities
- Wholesale and Retail Trade
The sector groupings are based on the similarity of occupational health and safety concerns in their workplaces. See the sector definitions to learn which industries are included in each NORA sector.
NORA Sector Councils develop and maintain sector-specific research agendas. Representing all stakeholders, the councils use an open process to set goals, develop strategies, encourage partnerships, and promote improved workplace practices. Download the charge to a NORA Sector Council.
A public meeting is typically held semi-annually to discuss partnerships and issues in common across multiple NORA sectors. The Partnerships to Advance the National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) public meeting is announced in the Federal Register. Send an email to noracoordinator@cdc.gov to request more information.
