Summary

This training describes the protocols and definitions for the High Risk Inpatient Influenza Vaccination (HRIIV) Module of the Patient Safety Component of the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). By the end of this training, you should be able to outline the structure, methodology and purpose of the inpatient flu vaccination module of NHSN and describe the protocols and definitions used in this module. Additionally, this presentation provides an introduction to the HRIIV’s analysis function in the NHSN application.

Audience: NHSN facility administrator, the patient safety primary contact, the infection preventionist, the hospital epidemiologist, members of the professional nursing or clinical medicine staff, data entry clerk, or any trained support staff.
